Requirements & certification

• Graduate degree (MSN or DNP) in the specialty’s NP track
• National board certification for the specialty, administered by ANCC
• Active state APRN licensure and DEA registration — controlled-substance prescribing is central to the role
• Employers screen for both medication-management depth and therapy integration skills
